Family Car Rental in St Martin: 8 and 9 Seater Vans
Travelling as a group and looking for family car rental in St Martin? We offer 8 and 9 seater vans so everyone rides together, in one vehicle, with room for everybody's luggage. As a local company based on the island, we prepare your vehicle before you land and hand it over ready to go.
One vehicle for the whole group
The question comes up quickly in St Martin: two small cars, or one large vehicle? Two cars means twice the paperwork, two drivers tied up, two parking spaces to find in Marigot or Grand-Case, and a group that loses sight of itself on the road. A van solves all of that at once — everyone travels together, decisions get made on the way, and there is only one vehicle to park.
This matters most for families with children, groups of friends sharing a villa, and anyone planning back-to-back beach days.
Our 8 and 9 seater vehicles
Our fleet includes recent vans suited to the island's roads:
- Kia Carnival — 8 seats. The most versatile format: proper rear seats, easy access through sliding doors, and a boot that stays usable even at full capacity.
- Hyundai Staria — 9 seats. The largest in the range, for full groups or larger families. Generous headroom and a wide side opening, handy when loading suitcases or beach gear.
If there are fewer of you but you still want luggage space, take a look at our full fleet — a mid-size model is sometimes enough, and it parks more easily.
Luggage, child seats and comfort
A family on holiday means suitcases, but also strollers, beach bags and sometimes diving gear. Tell us how much luggage you have when booking: depending on the load, it is often worth moving up to the 9 seater even for 7 people, rather than travelling with bags on your knees.
Child seats and boosters are available on request. Give us the number and ages of the children when booking and everything will be fitted before handover.
Picking up your van on arrival
Landing with a group and tired children, then waiting for a shuttle, is the worst moment of any trip. We deliver your vehicle to the airport so you can load up and drive off straight away — the process is explained on our page about car rental at St Martin airport.
Driving around the island as a group
St Martin can be crossed in under an hour, but the roads are narrow and winding, and some village streets are genuinely tight. With a 9 seater, two habits are enough: anticipate oncoming traffic, and park before you reach the town centres rather than hunting for a space in the middle of Marigot or Grand-Case.
Marigot, the capital and Grand-Case are best visited by parking at the edge and walking in. And you can cross freely to the Dutch side — there is no border to clear, the road simply continues.
Need a higher vehicle rather than a bigger one?
If your plans include rougher access roads or tracks down to certain coves, seat count is not the issue — ground clearance is. In that case, look at our 4x4 and SUV range, which answers a different need.
Book your van ahead
8 and 9 seaters are the rarest vehicles in any fleet, and the first to go during school holidays and high season. Once your dates are set, book your van online — it is the only way to guarantee capacity on the day you land.
Frequently asked questions
Up to 9 people including the driver, with the Hyundai Staria. The Kia Carnival seats 8. Beyond that you will need two vehicles — let us know when booking and we will prepare them together.
Yes, though space naturally shrinks once the back row is in use. For a full group with a suitcase each, we recommend the 9 seater over the 8 seater. Tell us your luggage volume and we will point you to the right model.
Yes, seats and boosters are available on request. Give us the number and ages of the children when booking so everything is fitted at handover.
Yes, on the main roads and on the loop around the island. Take care in narrow town-centre streets and when parking: it is easier to stop on the outskirts and walk the last stretch.
Yes, with no formalities at all. The island is shared between a French and a Dutch side, but movement is free: the road continues, with no border post.
